290 Vintage bespoke 1904 Edwardian morning tailcoat size 34

For sale here is quite possibly the second oldest dated item we've had, a 1904 double breasted non fastening ( like an evening tailcoat) tailcoat. We're not sure of the intended purpose of this item...Its not a frock coat thats been adapted and so was designed like this but for evening or day use ?

 Interesting is that the button holes deliberately do not function but the stitching for the bottom two is still there, a ghost of previous tailcoats that did fasten still. Silk lined and very nicely hand tailored.
